Clinton High School Tennis Bounces Back with Back to Back Wins
By Charlie Rook
After opening the regular season with a 7-0 loss to Madison Central, the Clinton High School men’s tennis team has gone on to win two straight matches, against Warren Central, and West Jones.
For a team tennis match, it’s scored as follows: Each team ranks their 7 players 1 through 7, with one being the team’s best player, two being the second best, and so on. Each team’s number one’s play a match, as do the rest of the correlating numbers on both teams. With every number playing an individual match, there are seven matches happening with each one worth a point. Whatever team wins the majority of matches, wins the overall team match.
Clinton bounced back from a sweep against Madison Central with a 4-3 victory over Warren Central, and then followed it up with a 5-2 victory over West Jones.
The teams next match will be against Northwest Rankin on Tuesday, February 17th, as the team looks to continue the win streak.
