A six-week series of free adult cooking classes will be offered at the Quisenberry Library beginning Tuesday, April 7. Provided by the Mississippi State Extension Services, the two-hour Cooking Matters for Adults classes will be held each Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 7, April 14, April 21, April 28, May 5 and May 12.
The class is open to adults who are interested in learning more about food preparation, grocery shopping, food budgeting, nutrition and how to prepare healthy meals.
Each week, trained educators will work with participants in the hands-on class to hone skills such as knife use, reading food labels and making healthy meals. Participants will also learn how to cut up a whole chicken.
Previous course participants have expressed satisfaction with the skills that the course taught them.
“This course has affected my household greatly. We cook more together, and I feel more confident in the kitchen,” said one.
The class is free, but class size is limited, and reservations are required.
For additional information, questions or to reserve a spot in the class, call Piper Dawson Walters, Mississippi State University E Nutrition Educator, at 601-526-3930, or email mpd4@MsState.edu. The Quisenberry Library is located at 605 East Northside Drive.
