The Bee Movie to be shown April 10 at dusk

Dinner & A Movie

Families are encouraged to catch the buzz as Main Street Clinton’s spring Dinner and a Movie Series kicks off with The Bee Movie on Friday, April 10, in Olde Towne Clinton.

The movie starts at dusk, on Jefferson Street in Olde Towne. Attendees are asked to bring a blanket or chair for seating. The movie is free, but something to munch on can enhance the fun. Favorite Olde Towne eateries will be open offering a snack, meal or sweets.

The 2007 animated comedy features the voices of Jerry Seinfeld and Renée Zellweger in its story of Barry the Bee. Fresh out of college, Barry has ambitions beyond the honey-making workforce. After a venture beyond the hive leads to a friendship with a florist, he finds out that humans steal and eat bees’ honey and wants to sue them for exploitation.

Additional celeb voices include Matthew Broderick, John Goodman, Kathy Bates and Oprah Winfrey.

Depending on the film, crowds can range from one hundred fifty to two hundred fifty people, Main Street Clinton Assistant Director Ashley Hammack said.

“The atmosphere is very laid-back, with most people bringing lawn chairs and blankets to sit on,” said Hammack.

“We encourage people to grab dinner and treats at our Olde Towne restaurants, so you’ll usually find plenty of pizza boxes and ice cream cones throughout the crowd,” Hammack said.
