Two CHS seniors named STAR Students
Special to The Clinton Courier

Pictured (l to r) are Clinton High School 2026 STAR Teachers and Students: teacher Jo Purvis with STAR Student Haddie Heindl, and STAR Student Greer Vincent with teacher Alix Williams.
Two Clinton High School students have been named STAR Students for the 2025-26 school year by the Mississippi Business Alliance (MSBA), formerly the Mississippi Economic Council.
Established in 1965, the purpose of the STAR program is to recognize outstanding students in Mississippi for academic achievement and ACT performance, and to honor a teacher selected by each student.
Both Clinton High School seniors were honored during the annual Education Celebration at the Clyde Muse Center in Pearl.
STAR Students are selected on the basis of academic excellence. Both American College Test scores and scholastic averages are compared to determine the school’s STAR Student(s).
Each STAR Student is asked to designate a STAR Teacher, the teacher who has made the greatest contribution to the student’s scholastic achievement.
Haddie Heindl chose Jo Purvis as her STAR Teacher, and Greer Vincent selected Alix Williams as his STAR Teacher.
Over six hundred STAR Students and STAR Teachers received recognition at the Celebration.
