Leszczynska selected as National Youth Correspondent at journalism conference

Clinton High School student Jazlyn Leszczynska was recently selected to attend the Washington Journalism and Media Conference (WJMC) as a National Youth Correspondent, representing both Clinton High School and the state of Mississippi.

The Washington Journalism and Media Conference is a highly competitive national program hosted on the campus of George Mason University near Washington, D.C. Leszczynska will attend one of two summer sessions scheduled for July 12–17 or July 19–24, 2026. Students are chosen for the program based on academic excellence, leadership potential and a demonstrated interest in journalism and media.

As a National Youth Correspondent, Leszczynska will participate in an intensive six-day experience alongside outstanding students from across the country. The program includes panel discussions with nationally recognized journalists, political reporters and media executives, as well as networking opportunities with leaders from major media organizations. Participants will also attend events at prominent venues such as the National Press Club and engage in exclusive sessions with nationally known journalists.

“Jazlyn’s selection for this program speaks volumes about her work ethic, talent and passion for storytelling,” said Adam Chance, who serves as the broadcast journalism and multimedia instructor at Clinton High School. “Opportunities like this give students real-world exposure to the journalism profession and help them see what’s possible beyond the classroom. We’re incredibly proud of her and excited to see how this experience shapes her future.”

In addition to professional development and mentorship opportunities, Leszczynska will receive a National Youth Correspondent Certificate of Merit and one transferable college credit from George Mason University upon completion of the conference.
