Greg Nohra, the Clinton Public School District 2024-25 Parent of the Year, is expected to be the next appointee to the CPSD School Board.

A special committee is recommending the appointment of Greg Nohra to the Clinton Public School District (CPSD) Board of Trustees. The recommendation is expected to be presented to the Board of Aldermen for a vote at its June 2 meeting.

The committee, made up of Mayor Will Purdie, Ward 3 Alderwoman Amanda Jones, Ward 4 Alderman Chip Wilbanks and Ward 6 Alderman James Lott, interviewed two nominees for the post.

“We had a couple of fantastic candidates, and both had great interviews; but we thought that Greg was the right fit,” says Purdie.

If approved, Nohra’s appointment to the CPSD board will be the City’s first in more than five years. He would replace Derek Holmes, who’s served on the school board since 2012.
In February, the Board of Aldermen set up staggered terms for the school board under which one member will roll off every year. Having served the longest, Holmes will be the first to be replaced, with Nohra (if approved) taking over July 1 for a term ending February 28, 2031. The other school board members were reappointed to terms ending in 2027, 2028, 2029 and 2030.

“I think the thing that stood out with Greg is the amount of time he has spent in the schools, with booster clubs and everything else,” Wilbanks says. “He’s been very, very involved in this school system, the long-range planning committee, those kind of things. He’s very impressive.”

Jones, likewise, commended Nohra’s deep involvement with the CPSD.

“I’m just really looking forward to having his experience come on board with the school district,” says Jones.

Lott says Nohra has distinguished himself as a CPSD parent.

“He’s had children at each school, and, throughout those levels, he’s participated extensively through parent-teacher organizations (PTO) and other leadership roles,” says Lott.

Nohra served as PTO president at Eastside Elementary from 2023-25, vice president of the Lovett Elementary PTO from 2023-24 and president from 2025-26, and he was treasurer of the Clinton Junior High PTO from 2024-25 and secretary from 2025-26. He was named CPSD Parent of the Year for 2024-25.
