Clinton Arrow Touchdown Club sets goals for 2026 season

By Danny C. Davis

For over seventy years, the Clinton Arrow football team has had strong support from Clinton parents, fans and supporters. CHS has also had a very active booster club that has gone under several different names. In the 1950s, the booster club went by Clinton High Booster Club. In the 1960s until a few years ago, the support group went by Clinton Touchdown Club. Now, the group goes by the Arrow Touchdown Club.

Second-year Arrow TD Club president Charles Williams is a long-time Arrow football supporter. Williams started on the offensive line for CHS 1989-91 and graduated from CHS in 1992. He earned a football scholarship to Hinds Community College, and then earned a football scholarship to the University of Mississippi, where he played on the offensive line for then-head coach Billy Brewer from 1994 through 1995.

Williams’ older son, Cameron Williams, was a starter on the offensive line for Clinton 2020-2022. His younger son, Grant, is a senior offensive lineman this season and already has Division I college football offers.

“As a board, our most important tasks are making sure that our football team has pre-game meals and post-game food,” said Williams. “But there are many other things we do.”

“There are around thirty summer camps for the varsity players this summer that we support financially,” said Williams.

“We not only furnish meals and hydration for the varsity football team, but also for seventh-, eighth- and ninth-grade teams. The seventh-grade program was only added a couple of years ago, and we will see benefits down the road from their program.”

“Our board furnishes shirts all the way from seventh through twelfth grades to all the players,” said Williams. “We just want to help the entire football program any way we can.”

Williams said the annual parents’ meeting to select board members and assign projects for this season will be held Monday night, June 22, at the Clinton High School auditorium at 6 p.m.

“Our goal is to increase our membership by ten to fifteen percent – or more,” said Williams. “We had about forty members last year, but we have over one hundred players out just on the varsity. We have a lot going on, and we need every parent involved. We will lay out every vacant position and make sure every parent is aware of all we do for their sons.”

“There are a lot of moving parts, and we start getting real busy in early August when fall practice starts. We need volunteers to go by and pick up the food and other volunteers to help with checking cars into the Big Red Arrow parking area that members buy parking passes for.”

The meeting agenda also will include Big Red Arrow stadium season ticket seat sales in the reserved section that are sold to businesses and fans.

“We also have about forty business partners in Clinton that support us, and our goal is to grow that number this year.”

A couple of projects the club plans this year include a kids football camp July 2-July 6 at Arrow Field that Williams says will be fun for the whole family. The cost is $40 per child. Also in the works is a raffle to give away a gas gift card good for around $1,000-$1,200 during the season. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to support the players.

The team camps this summer mentioned included Hinds CC, East Central CC, and Mississippi State. This is an annual event for every player during the summer months.

“We are very thankful for Coach Morgan and his staff for their support and are looking forward to a good season this year,” said Williams.
