Exciting events abound for Clinton’s Living Young Spirit Month
The Clinton Courier
The Wood Activity Center on Clinton Boulevard is offering a summer full of Living Young programming for the area’s 50+ crowd and is making plans for its 2026 Spirit Month in August.
Kicking off Monday, August 3, at 11 a.m., with a Boot Scootin’ Brunch, the month will be filled with treats and fun. Boots are encouraged, and the morning will include brunch, sweet treats and laughs with friends.
The party continues on Friday, August 7, at 1 p.m. with Light of Entertainment: Disco Fever, a groovy afternoon packed with disco hits, throwback fun and lots of sparkle. Light of Entertainment performers will lead the way for an afternoon of dance moves, singing, bell bottoms, sequins and retro outfits.
Wednesday, August 12, at 1:30 p.m. offers the opportunity to spend some time in friendly competition with Tabletop Game Day. Participants can challenge friends, learn a new game, or just enjoy the atmosphere, no skills required.
A Team Spirit Tailgate rolls around on Friday, August 14, with a noon kickoff. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite team’s colors or favorite Living Young t-shirt and bring a favorite dish to share under the Wood Activity Center tent. Alternately, those who wish to gather a group of friends and create their own tailgate spread are encouraged to do so.
A Family Feud showdown will be the highlight of Wednesday, August 19. Starting at 2 p.m., teams will test their guessing skills and see who can uncover the most popular survey answers. The following day, August 20, also at 2 p.m., Wacky Bingo will offer the chance to play a popular game, but with a twist or two…the rules may change, surprises and challenges are around every corner, and laughter is guaranteed. Fun prizes will also be up for grabs.
A morning Tropical Paint N Sip is planned for 10 a.m. on Friday, August 28. Mocktails and a relaxed atmosphere will be in order at this instructional painting class, with a tropical beach scene on canvas being the goal.
Spirit Month will close out on Monday, August 25, with a Lip Sync Battle at 1:30 p.m. Participants – solo or group – are encouraged to pick a favorite song, bring their best stage presence, grab the mic and unleash their inner superstar to wow the crowd with a lip sync performance.
Other regular Living Young offerings throughout the month include fitness classes, line dancing, craft opportunities, game sessions, music workshops, coffee conversation opportunities and a monthly meet and eat. Those who are interested are encouraged to sign up for the Living Young newsletter for additional information and a full calendar of events.
RSVPs are required for most programs, and signup for August programs opens on July 15. Most programs are held at the Wood Activity Center at 111 Clinton Boulevard, and many have a limit on participant count. Those who wish to join the Living Young program will need to be registered and sign the group’s Code of Conduct.
