Heindl wins scholarship money with success at DYW

The Distinguished Young Women (DYW) of MS Program celebrated its 69th year of empowering young women to further their education and become leaders of tomorrow.  Thirty-one high school seniors, including Esli Heindl of Clinton, travelled to Meridian to spend a week in rehearsals and participating in community service activities, a host family Western party, a Red-Carpet party, an autograph party, and a leadership forum at the Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience Museum.

In its fourth year, the Be Your Best Self Award required the participants to create a two-minute video of their Be Your Best Self project, the outreach community service project of the National Distinguished Young Women Program.   

Heindl of Clinton was one of the DYW of MS 2027 Top Ten and Finalists. The daughter of Paul and Adriana Heindl, Esli was awarded the Spirit of DYW award, as well as the Talent Preliminary Award. She came home with a total of $1,500 in scholarship money.

Grace Ann Courtney of Stone County was named the Distinguished Young Woman of MS 2027.
