Clinton Alderwoman Beverly Oliver earns Professional Development Certification

Clinton Ward 5 Alderwoman Beverly Oliver has completed the Professional Development Level of the Certified Municipal Official program offered by the Mississippi Municipal League.
The Certified Municipal Official program includes three certification levels. The Basic level requires sixty hours of training focused on municipal organization, law, finance and land use. The Advanced level requires an additional forty hours of training in community and economic development. The Professional Development level requires another forty hours of coursework focused on leadership and communication skills, including public speaking, writing and interpersonal communications.
Officials who earn the Professional Development certification must first complete both the Basic and Advanced levels of the program.
Mississippi Municipal League Executive Director Shari T. Veazey said the Professional Development level allows municipal leaders to focus on personal growth and leadership development.
“The Professional Development Level of the CMO program gives our municipal leaders the opportunity to focus on personal growth and improvement in leadership skills,” Veazey said. “Those who have completed all three levels of the CMO program have made a strong commitment to self-improvement and, as a result, will be more effective municipal leaders.”
The Mississippi Municipal League is a nonpartisan association established in 1931 that represents two hundred ninety city, town and village governments throughout Mississippi. The organization is affiliated with the National League of Cities, which advocates for municipalities before Congress and provides legislative and legal support for local governments.
