Main Street and Courier again partner for expanded “Fall for Clinton” decorating contest

The Clinton Courier

After a successful joint venture last year, The Clinton Courier and Main Street Clinton will again partner for a citywide business “Fall for Clinton” decorating contest.

With five awards – and associated bragging rights – up for grabs, all businesses in the city are encouraged to pull out their fall décor and start getting ready for cooler weather and the colors of the season.

Any business or organization, large, small, even home-based, can participate by decorating their façade, lawn, entrance and/or doorways with fall themes, such as scarecrows, pumpkins and festive wreaths.

“We have been so impressed with the creativity and design that businesses have put into their fall decorations in the past,” said Main Street Clinton Director Tara Lytal. “We’re happy to partner with The Clinton Courier and have a couple of special awards for our Olde Towne and Boulevard Business Districts’ businesses.”

City-wide awards will be given for the most Fabulous Façade, Lavish Lawn, Enthralling Entrance and Dynamic Doorway, and two Main Street Clinton district awards, Outstanding in Olde Towne and Best of The Boulevard awards, will be given.

While there is no cost to enter, businesses and organizations must complete an official Decorating Contest Entry Form by Friday, October 2, in order to be considered for one of the awards. Decorating must be completed by Friday, October 9, and judging will take place the following week.

“Each year, the judging becomes a harder and harder job,” said Clinton Courier COO Doris Bynum. “We’ve been holding a version of this decorating contest since 2019, and it gets bigger and better every year!”

While private homes are not eligible to enter the contest, Bynum encourages homeowners to not let that deter them from getting into the spirit and displaying fall colors all over the city.

“It’s good practice for our ‘Spirit of Christmas’ decorating tour, which will be here before you know it!” said Bynum.

Winners will be announced on The Clinton Courier’s and Main Street Clinton’s Facebook pages on October 16 and featured in a November issue of The Clinton Courier.
