Arrows grab first win of the season at Pearl

After losing three close games to start the season, the Clinton Arrows got their first win of the year with a 41-13 road win at Pearl.

The win snapped a seven-game losing streak that started in October 2025.

Clinton will host the # 3-ranked Petal Panthers for the 2026 homecoming game at 7 p.m. Friday night, September 25. After an open date on October 2, CHS will host two consecutive Region 2-7A games – Jackson Murrah on October 9 and Starkville on October 16.

“This was a big win for us tonight,” said Arrow head football coach Hamer Morgan. “We had been close the past three games but executed good tonight on both sides of the ball and did not turn the football over, and that made a big difference.”

Friday is Homecoming at CHS. The Clinton cheer squads will perform prior to kickoff at 6:35 p.m.
The 2026 Homecoming Court will be presented at halftime, with the coronation of the 2026 Homecoming Queen and Princesses concluding the festivities.

Pearl scored on their first possession, but after that it was all Clinton.

The Arrows led 21-7 at the half and had a 34-7 lead headed into the fourth quarter. Arrow QB Jayden Jones had his best game, rushing 63 yards and for a career-high four touchdowns. Jones also passed for 94 yards, and another TD.

“This was one of the easier games we had left to play on our schedule, and we knew we had to come out and dominate the game…that is what we did tonight,” said Jones. “Our offensive line played really well, and our backs all ran hard tonight.”

Clinton did a good job rushing the football 48 times for 212 yards. CHS split the carries between Boskey Evans, who had thirteen carries for 65 yards and Braylon Lowery, who carried 14 times for 38 yards and a touchdown. Cayden Albert and Amarreau Coleman also had carries for Clinton.

Dayson Scott led in receiving with five receptions for 58 yards and a TD.

Trevion Casnell led the Arrow defense with nine tackles, seven solo stops and two assists.

“Our defense has a lot of young guys starting this year, and they are playing better every week and communicating on the field well,” said Casnell, a senior.

Arrow defensive coordinator Britt Rowell agreed.

“We tightened up and starting playing a lot better after that opening drive that they scored on. We’ve grown up a lot the last three weeks on defense – also tonight. We’re getting there. We needed this kind of game tonight.” 

“JJ (Jayden Jones) played really well tonight at quarterback, running the ball and finding his receivers,” said Arrow offensive coordinator Ben Shelton. “I thought our running backs ran hard, and the line really blocked well tonight, too.”
