Clinton Boulevard Visioning Tour to explore redevelopment opportunities
By Guest Columnist Tara Lytal, Director, Main Street Clinton
Main Street Clinton, the Clinton Chamber of Commerce and Connect West invite you to participate in a Visioning Tour along Clinton Boulevard.
This collaborative event, the first of its kind in Clinton, will give realtors, developers, business owners and members of the public an opportunity to tour the area and re-envision what existing properties and available spaces could become.
The Clinton Boulevard and Lakeview Drive commercial corridor is the city’s second-oldest commercial area, with many properties dating back to the late 1960s and 1970s. Today, the corridor continues to see significant traffic, with approximately 6,400 to 7,400 vehicles traveling Clinton Boulevard each day and 6,800 to 7,000 vehicles traveling Lakeview Drive.
With its established location and strong traffic counts, the area is primed for redevelopment. The partnering organizations are seeking community input and ideas about what types of businesses and development residents would like to see in the corridor.
Mississippi Main Street Deputy Director Beth Raney will lead and facilitate the tour, helping participants identify opportunities and envision the future of the area. Following the tour, a second meeting will be scheduled at the Olde Towne Depot to present and further discuss the ideas gathered during the event.
Join the tour scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, starting at 5:15 p.m. from Clinton Plaza Shopping Center, 200 Clinton Boulevard. Registration is not required, but registering in advance will help organizers prepare for the event. To register, visit www.MainStreetClintonMS.com, select the menu on the homepage, and click “Boulevard Visioning Tour.”
Come walk the corridor, share your ideas, and help envision what’s possible for the Boulevard Business District!
