Hinds Eagles and Lady Eagles Tennis 2020 Season Preview
The Hinds Eagles and Lady Eagles Tennis teams will commence the 2020 season this Friday, January 31 when they host the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves and Lady Wolves at 2:00 p.m. at the Cleon McKnight Tennis Center in Raymond.
2019 Season in Review
The Hinds men’s tennis team completed one of their best seasons in school history with a 14-2 regular season record in 2019. Head coach Jacki Millet‘s 2019 team finished as the MACJC State Champions, NJCAA Region 23 Champions, and had the opportunity to compete for a National Championship. The Hinds Eagles finished the NJCAA National Tournament with 14 total team points leaving them ranked 14th in the nation. That point total and ranking makes them highest ranked team in Mississippi.
The Hinds Women’s tennis team finished the 2019 season with an overall record of 7-8.
2020 Men’s Roster
The 2020 Eagles roster will feature plenty of new faces. Hinds returns just one sophomore in Chris Adams (Greenville) who helped lead the Eagles to a State and Region 23 Champion in 2019. The Eagles will round out their roster with nine freshmen who will make their debuts for Hinds in 2020. Those freshmen include: Chambers Bethea (Edwards), Berto Le Roux (Western Cape, South Africa), Walker Magee (Brandon), Bryce Ramshur (Columbia), Tommy Sims (Leland), Eli Sykes (Brandon), Abraham Gonzalez (Mexico).
2020 Women’s Roster
The 2020 Lady Eagles roster has been totally revamped and will feature just five freshmen and no returning sophomores. The five freshman include: Chloe Barton (Raymond), Ally Massey (Pascagoula), Anesha Smith (Lena), Emi Smith (Brandon), and Elizabeth Wooten (Vicksburg).
2020 Coaching Staff
Jacki Millet returns for her seventh season as the head coach for the men’s and women’s tennis teams at Hinds Community College in 2020.
Ashton Hartley enters her first season as the assistant coach for the men’s and women’s tennis teams at Hinds Community College in 2020.
2020 Schedule
Hinds men’s and women’s 2020 tennis schedule will feature 16 regular season matchups. Of those 16 matchups, nine will be played at home and seven will be played on the road. All 16 matches will be conference matchups.
