City of Clinton hires two new directors

The City of Clinton recently announced the hiring of two new directors. Amanda Mills Jones has been hired as the Director of Communication and Tourism for the City of Clinton, and Daniel Lang has been hired to serve as the new Director of Economic Development. Both are slated to begin in their new positions in November.

Jones comes to the City of Clinton from St. Dominic Hospital, where she served as a Senior Marketing and Communication Specialist since 2017. Prior to her service at St. Dominic’s, Jones served in Outreach and Marketing for the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks for over twelve years. She started co-hosting Mississippi Outdoors television in 2006 with the late Melvin Tingle. Her passion for the outdoors and love for Mississippi is strong as she continues to serve as a co-host on the show’s 33rd season.

As a 2001 graduate of Clinton High School, Jones is very familiar with Clinton. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Communications from Mississippi College in 2005. Jones proudly serves as the current PTO President for Clinton Park Elementary. She is a member of The Central Chapter of the Public Relations Association of Mississippi. In 2019, she received her Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
Jones is married to Dustin Jones, of Greenwood, Mississippi. They have two daughters, Addie, age 6, and Anna Lois, age 4. Both girls are active in city sports and recreations. The Jones family attends First Baptist Church Clinton.
Lang brings with him experience from the Mississippi Development Authority in economic development and project management. Previous roles include project manager for the Mississippi Development Authority and, most recently, a focus on foreign direct investment initiatives. Lang holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mississippi College. Throughout his career at Mississippi Development Authority, Lang has assisted many companies in their site selection needs, including Navistar, Auto Parts Manufacturing of Mississippi and Ajinomoto Foods.

“In this position, Lang will focus on developing and implementing strategic plans to attract and retain new retail and industrial businesses. He will also assist existing companies with expansions of their operations, as well as employee retention. With this vision, he plans to continue to increase the quality of life for the families of Clinton for many years to come,” Mayor Phil Fisher said.
Lang is a native of Jackson and graduated from Jackson Prep before attending Mississippi College. While at Mississippi College, Lang was a member of the soccer team and held an active role in Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He met his wife, Meredith, through Fellowship of Christian Athletes, as she ran cross country and track for the Choctaws. They were married in Provine Chapel on the university’s campus. Lang and his wife have two children, Luke, age 2, and Jordan, 8 months.
