Library Plans February Book Sale & To Extend Hours

Library book sale planned for February

Library Plans February Book Sale

Books remaining from the December Gala Book Sale at the Quisenberry Library have been packed away by members of Friends of the Library. Unpacking will begin for the first sale of the year, set for February 7 and 8. Volunteers and Friends board members say they enjoy working with books and with the reading enthusiasts who attend the sales. They welcome anyone who wishes to participate in the endeavor, which raises funds to support library activities. Shown at the work session are (clockwise from left) Gloria Wright, Helen Blackwell, Carolyn Johnson, Katherine Hand, Kathy Buckley, Diane Eubanks and Carol Pate.

Library to extend hours

Library Hours

Beginning this year, Clinton’s Quisenberry Library, part of the Jackson/Hinds Library System, will be open for new extended evening hours. Library system officials say the new hours are being implemented in response to community feedback and the growing demand for accessible library services.

The library’s new operating hours will be from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Friday and Saturday hours will remain from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Margaret Walker Alexander, Medgar Evers and Willie Morris libraries have also shifted to the same extended hours.

“We understand the importance of providing our community with flexible access to library resources,” said Morgan Hedglin, interim director of the Jackson/Hinds Library System. “By extending our evening hours, we aim to better serve our patrons, allowing more individuals to take advantage of our programs, services and collections.”

The extended hours will apply only to the selected libraries within the Jackson Hinds Library System, making it easier for residents to visit after work or school. Library system representatives say the initiative reflects the library’s commitment to fostering a love for reading, digital life and community engagement.

The Jackson/Hinds Library System provides public library service to urban metropolitan Jackson and Hinds County. The system’s goal is to provide quality service through its fourteen locations with a focus on community, education and digital life. The system currently operates under a historic 1986 City/County agreement, but its history dates to the original Jackson Carnegie Library founding in 1910.

The Quisenberry Library is located at 605 East Northside Drive. For more information, call 601-924-5684.
