CHSAA awards annual scholarships to Class of 2025 students
Special to The Clinton Courier
The Clinton High School Alumni Association (CHSAA) recently announced its 2025 scholarship winners. This year is the twenty-fifth consecutive year that CHSAA has awarded scholarships to graduating Clinton High School (CHS) seniors.
The 2025 “Go Arrows” Service Award winners are Faith Taylor and Jailyn Williams.
Taylor will pursue a degree in accounting/supply chain logistics at Mississippi State University. While at CHS, Taylor has maintained a stellar academic record while being involved with various extracurricular activities, including the Lady Arrows soccer team.
Williams will enroll at Xavier University of Louisiana to major in premedical psychology as a first step toward her goal of becoming a pediatrician or pediatric psychologist. She says that giving back to her community is an important way of acknowledging how her community has given to her. She wants to “ensure that children receive the support they need to thrive.”
The John S. Weatherly Scholarship was established in 2022 by Dr. Jenifer Weatherly Ingle in memory of her father who graduated from CHS in 1970.
Faith Taylor was also named the 2025 John S. Weatherly Scholarship winner. Taylor has enjoyed solving puzzles from an early age. She says the activity ultimately led her to “combine my interests and explore the field of forensic accounting.”
The Brecken J. Anderson Scholarship was established in 2024 and is awarded to a graduating senior who will be majoring in nursing. The winner of the inaugural Brecken J. Anderson Scholarship is Gabrielle Morris.
Morris will enroll at Grambling State University this fall, as she seeks a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She ultimately plans to obtain a master’s degree at a CRNA school.
The Ida Hope Thornton Scholarship was established in 2013 and is awarded to a graduating senior who will be majoring in English, journalism or an agriculture-related field of study. The winner of the 2025 Ida Hope Thornton Scholarship is James Farr.
Farr will enroll at Hinds Community College, with plans to subsequently attend Mississippi State University and pursue a bachelor’s degree in animal and dairy science on his way to a degree in veterinary medicine. Actively involved in 4-H throughout his high school career, Farr also played on the Arrow football team and was named to the 2024 First Team Defensive Line for Class 7A in Region 2.
