Gill appointed president of MS Veterinary Medical Association Board

The Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) recently announced the appointment of Richard Gill, DVM as president of the MVMA Board of Directors. Dr. Gill assumed the role on July 1, 2025, and brings with him decades of veterinary experience, leadership and community service.

A 1988 graduate of the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Gill began his career in mixed animal practice in Ripley, Tennessee. In 1994, he returned to Mississippi to raise his family and opened the Animal Hospital of Clinton, a small animal practice that now includes three full-time associate veterinarians.

Gill has served MVMA in various leadership capacities, most recently completing two terms as Central District Representative on the Board. His dedication to the profession and passion for veterinary medicine have earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues throughout the state.

“It is a tremendous honor to serve as president of the MVMA Board of Directors,” said Gill. “I’m committed to advancing our profession and supporting the veterinarians who serve animals and communities across Mississippi.”

In addition to his professional work, Gill is a devoted member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church, where he serves as an elder and Adult Life Group teacher. He and his wife, Sherri Hester Gill, have two adult children and have worked side by side for many years in their practice. In his free time, Gill enjoys spending time on his small cattle farm, playing golf and attending Mississippi State athletic events.
