Clinton Track sweeps Woody Barnett Invitational, Lady Arrows break 4×400 state record
The Clinton Lady Arrows already owned the state record in the 4×400-meter relay. On Friday, they shattered it.
Competing at the Woody Barnett Invitational on April 10 at Pearl High School, the Lady Arrows’ quartet of Kamiah Mounger, Khamrin Harper, Cailtyn Magee, and Makenzie Holiday blazed to a new state-record time of :3:52.89, putting an exclamation mark on a standout day for Clinton Track and Field.
The record-breaking performance helped Clinton close out the regular-season meet schedule on a high note as both teams claimed division titles.
The Lady Arrows won the girls team championship with 183.5 points, while the Arrows captured the boys title with 107.5 points.
Other winning performances for the Lady Arrows included Harper’s 12.18-second run that won the 100-meter race. Andraeia Cavett delivered a winning performance in the 100-meter hurdles, and Mounger won the 400-meter race with a time of 55.66 seconds.
Caroline Henry swept the 1600-meter race and the 3200-meter race with times of 5:21.57 and 12:00.26, respectively.
The Lady Arrows’ 4×200-meter relay team won its event, crossing the finish line in 1:38.82.
In the girls field events, Taylor Finley cleared 5-02 in the high jump, winning the event. Tenley Prestwood cleared 11 feet in the pole vault for the top of the podium.
Jamay Ivory had the best triple jump of the day, soaring 36-09 for the top spot.
For the Arrows, Carter Parks won the 110-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 14.16 seconds. Jonathan Rockett won the shot put event with a 52-01.50 throw.

The Lady Arrows and the Arrows start their postseason schedule, hosting the MHSAA Region 2-7A Championship Meet on Friday, April 17, at Arrow Field. The events begin at 11 a.m.
