The Lorax to be shown on the brick streets May 8
By Sherry Lucas
Main Street Clinton’s spring Dinner and a Movie series flickers back in May for the Friday, May 8, showing of The Lorax.
The hit animated family musical and comedy, released in 2012, brings the 1971 Dr. Seuss book to the big screen and expands the story in the process.
Its storyline of a twelve-year-old boy who needs to discover the story of the Lorax in order to win his love interest’s affection is beloved by generations. Her dream is to see a real tree, and the boy, who lives in a walled city surrounded by artificial vegetation, must find out what happened to the real thing.
The movie has been praised for its vibrant animation, catchy tunes and a vocal cast that includes Danny DeVito, Zac Efron, Taylor Swift and Betty White. Its warnings and eco-friendly messages about greed, mass production and protection of natural resources continued the story’s environmental themes.
The movie starts at dusk. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair for seating and patronize Olde Towne eateries for drinks, snacks and dinner. The movie showing is free.
