Civic Corner: Board of Aldermen April 21 Recap

By Robert Chapman, Alderman-at-Large
The April 21, 2026, Clinton Board of Aldermen meeting was one of the shortest meetings on recent record.
With no Department head report and only a single item on the agenda, the Board moved quickly.
Presented to the Board was a request from Parks and Recreation Director Courtney Nunn to approve the contract with Music Garden to secure the entertainment for the annual July Fourth Red, White and Blue Fest.
The Board approved the hiring of Randi Jarnigan as the new director of the Clinton Visitor Center.
Finally, in other business, the Board moved forward with selecting a subcommittee who will be tasked with interviewing possible candidates for the Clinton Public School District’s Board of Trustees. Those selected to the subcommittee are Alderwoman Amanda Jones, Alderman Chip Wilbanks and Alderman James Lott.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Space will be provided in each issue of The Clinton Courier to the Board of Aldermen for a recap of each meeting. Aldermen are asked to volunteer to provide this recap for the Courier.
