YCMA offers free summer lunches for children, CPSD opts out
Special to The Clinton Courier
The Clinton Family YMCA will offer free summer lunches for children this summer, but the Clinton Public School District has decided not to participate in the Summer Feeding Program for summer 2026.
School district officials say that, after careful consideration, they have determined that, due to low participation, the district will be unable to operate a summer feeding site this year.
A statement from CPSD says, “We understand the importance of access to nutritious meal during the summer months and encourage families to seek alternative meal sites available within the community.”
The YMCA program is open to the public, with meals available between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Children ages eighteen and below are eligible for a free meal each weekday. The Clinton Family YMCA is located at 400 Lindale Street.
Those looking for other summer meal locations are encouraged to visit www.fns.usda.gov/summer for assistance.
Questions related to CPSD’s decision may be directed to CPSD Child Nutrition Coordinator Adrienne Ealy at 601-924-4002, ext.126. For more information about the YMCA program, call 601-924-5812.
