Rotary Club raises funds for 4C’s

The Rotary Club of Clinton continued its longtime support of the Clinton community this year by raising funds for the Clinton Community Christian Corporation, better known as the 4C’s.
Each year, the club hosts a golf tournament to benefit the 4C’s, a local nonprofit social service agency that helps meet the needs of individuals and families living within the Clinton School District. This year, Rotary members added another fundraising effort by working concession stands at Mississippi Christian University, with proceeds also going to support the work of the 4C’s.
That additional effort was led by Rotary member Joshua Welch, who helped organize volunteers and keep the project moving.
“Joshua did a great job stepping up and leading this new part of our fundraising effort,” said Faith Martin, current president of the Rotary Club of Clinton. “Rotary is about service, and this was another way our members could give their time and energy to help an organization that means so much to Clinton.”
The 4C’s was officially chartered in November 1974 and grew out of helping efforts that began with MC students and community leaders in the early 1970s. The organization was founded by Clint Dona, who helped families with everyday needs such as food, clothing and housing repairs.
Today, the 4C’s continues that mission by creating awareness of needs in the community and coordinating resources to help meet those needs. The agency partners with local churches, civic organizations, businesses and private donors to serve individuals and families in the Clinton area.
“We are so thankful for the continued support of the Rotary Club of Clinton,” said Laurie Lawson, executive director of the 4C’s. “Their annual golf tournament, along with the extra work they put in this year at Mississippi Christian University, helps us continue serving local families who need a helping hand. It is a blessing to see our community come together in such a practical way.”
The Rotary Club of Clinton is made up of local business leaders, professionals and community members who are committed to service. The club supports a variety of local projects throughout the year, with a focus on making Clinton a stronger and more caring community.
