CAST Invitational Brings Hundreds to Clinton

The Clinton Arrows Swim Team hosted its second home meet of the 2026 season on a gorgeous September 12 morning at the Clinton YMCA, welcoming teams from all over the state. Madison Central, Germantown, St. Andrew’s, and Ridgeland came together for a competitive and spirited invitational.
A remarkable 176 swimmers brought their families, friends, and fans to fill the pool deck and surrounding grassy areas, creating high energy and strong performances throughout the morning. The Arrows delivered a focused, confident showing supported by dedicated volunteers. The women’s team came in fourth while the men finished third.
Allesandra Witsberger was CAST’s sole new North State qualifier, punching her ticket in the 100 Yard Freestyle.

CAST honored its seven seniors, pausing the meet to recognize the athletes whose leadership has shaped the program for years. Their steady presence on the deck, the way they encourage younger swimmers, and the example they set in both work ethic and sportsmanship have been central to the team’s identity. Each senior was celebrated for the strengths they bring to the lane and the legacy they leave behind as they prepare for their final stretch of the season.
Senior Aleyna Taylor’s mother, Gina Taylor, reflected on her daughter’s journey: “Since joining the swim team in 7th grade, Aleyna has grown not only as an athlete, but also as a person. She has pushed herself to learn a new sport, cherished being coached by Mrs. Marcy, and grown to love the friendships, teamwork, and memories made along the way. I’m grateful for the opportunity to watch her cheer on her teammates and be part of a team that has meant so much to her throughout her middle and high school years.”
Clinton Mayor Will Purdie also stopped by to support these student athletes. Coach Rushing and CAST hope supporters will come out to the Last Chance meet to be held September 26 at the GRIT in Flowood.
