Buddy Walk at MC brings awareness to Down Syndrome

Buddy Walk at MC brings awareness to Down Syndrome

The Central Mississippi Down Syndrome Society (CMDSS) held their 24th Annual Buddy Walk recently at Mississippi Christian University’s Robinson-Hale stadium. The CMDSS Buddy Walk is an annual central Mississippi fundraising event which celebrates individuals with Down Syndrome and their families and promotes community awareness. The event is held on the first Saturday in October each year as a celebration to kick off Down Syndrome Awareness Month. Over 1,000 participants attended the event, forming teams in honor of their “buddies” with developmental disabilities. In addition to the Buddy Walk, the event included games, lunch and entertainment.

CMDSS provides support, education, enrichment and resources to people with Down syndrome and their families, as well as operates the Buddy Center at 667 Highway 51, Suite C, in Ridgeland. For more information about the organization, call 601-385-3696, or visit CMDSS.org or “CentralMSDownSyndromeSociety” on Facebook.
