Visitor Center hosts Smathers exhibition

The Clinton Visitor Center will be the host of a new exhibition featuring the works of Albert Smathers, a professional artist primarily known for his visionary landscape paintings.

Set to open on September 24 with a reception from 5 until 8 p.m., the show will run through October 15.

Smathers’ landscapes are often poetic evocations of the natural landscape, revealing the artist’s deep love of nature and the beauty and order of God’s creation. While Smalthers’ primary support for his small or large compositions is canvas, he is also known for having completed over thirty large mural commissions.

In his upcoming exhibit, titled “The Trace & Beyond,” Smathers says he seeks to bring together a collection of works ranging from scenes based upon the Natchez Trace Parkway to inspired scenes from recent travels.

The Clinton Visitor Center is located at 1300 Pinehave Road and is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.  Admission to the exhibition is free.
