Hinds Track and Field Performs Well in Two Meets over the Weekend

The Hinds Track and Field teams competed in two separated meets this past weekend. On Friday (April 19), they competed in the Millsaps Invitational held at Millsaps College in Jackson. On Saturday (April 20), they competed at the LSU Alumni Gold Invitation held at Louisiana State University.

On Friday, Hinds Track and Field took home six individual first place finishes. On the men’s side, Jordan Woods won the 400 Meters Finals while Al-Tariq Dunson took home first place in the 110 Hurdles Finals.

Below are the men’s results from the Millsaps Invitational.

Men’s 400 Meters Finals – Jordan Woods – 50:79
Men’s 110 Hurdles Finals – Al-Tariq Dunson 15.73

On the women’s side, Kaitlin Denton won both the 100 and 200 Meters Finals. Jasmine Ward took home first place in the 400 Meters Finals while Aleekia Lewis won the Women’s Long Jump Finals.

Hinds then traveled to LSU to face off against some of the premier track programs in the country.

On the men’s side, Diamantae Griffin, Terrance LairdBabakarr Randall, and Khance Meyers finished in the top eight in the Men’s 4 x 100 Relay Finals with a time of 40.62.

Zacharey GoodmanKristopher MooreCruz Magee, and Babakarr Randall finished fifth in the men’s 4 x 400 Relay Finals behind LSU, Canada Athletics, Florida, and Mississippi State. Their time of 3:11.58 placed higher then schools such as Clemson and Harvard.

Corvell Todd place fifth in the High Jump Final with a mark of 2.11M (6’11”).

Kimorla Mushette, Trishauna Hemminds, Maresha Chandler, and D’Ajah Miley finished in the top ten in the Women’s 4 x 100 Meter Relay Finals with a time of 46.79.

The Hinds Track and Field teams will head to Hattiesburg this weekend to compete in the Southern Miss Open held at the University of Southern Mississippi. The meet will begin this Friday, April 26 and conclude on Saturday, April 27.
