LAMBRA Championships Return to Clinton On Sunday

Several hundred professional bicyclists from across the country will zoom into Clinton on Sunday, August 11 for the Louisiana Mississippi Bicycle Racing Association (LAMBRA) Capital City Cycling Championships.

The long course race will begin at Northside Park and proceed on a sixteen mile route along Northside Drive, Mt. Olive Road, Jimmy Williams Road and Clinton-Tinnin Road returning to Northside Park. Racers will make multiple laps of the course throughout the morning and early afternoon.

The city has been actively engaged recently in trying to bring events and new business to the area, particularly sporting events that bring hotel and restaurant visitors.

Motorists along the route should be aware of bicyclists on the course throughout the day on August 11, beginning at 8 A.M. and running through midafternoon.

Residents are encouraged to view the race at several marked spectator areas that will be placed along the route.

Clinton’s Fairfield Inn will serve as the race hotel.

The professional circuit race carries purse of over $11,000 of for teams and individuals.
