The quarterfinals of the MHSAA Class 6A girls soccer playoffs were played earlier today in Oxford. Clinton (16-2-2) and Oxford (15-3-2) and Clinton came away with the win, 4-3.
On the fields both teams looked evenly matched and forced the overtime. Oxford was hoping to hold on for a win but late in the game the Lady Arrows got a goal to send the game into overtime and come away with the win.
The coaching teams on both benches have similar styles, similar teams. After the game, both gave a similar quote showing how their teams don’t like to give up and probably a big reason for the close game and overtime.
Coach Thomas Bobo. “The girls kept fighting, and that’s been a hallmark of this team all year.” In overtime, Clinton dominated and came back on the field with a determination to bring home the win. The goals in overtimes came from Tailynn Remmel and Camille Bohannon. Remmel scoring first and Bohannon scoring only a couple minutes after. Later tonight Bobo made a simple statement that summed us his love for the team, “Proud of my girls!”. Bobo is one of the coaches in the CPSD that works full time outside education and only Coaches. His passion for his team can easily be seen from the stands.
“The nice thing about this team is they were never out of it,” Oxford coach Hunter Crane said.
A notable accomplishment for the season is Clinton’s Kaci Craft scored two goals, giving her a team leading 15 goals this season.
