Mississippi College athletic director Mike Jones has announced Matthew Reneker as the head cross country and track & field coach, as announced on Friday, April 17. Reneker served as the interim track and field head coach during the 2020 season.
Reneker joined the Mississippi College staff in 2016 as the assistant coach for the cross country and track & field programs. He previously served as the Director of Operations at the University of Akron.
“Matthew has been a part of our program for several years. His knowledge with our University, the cross country and track & field programs along with our student-athletes made him the right fit to lead us into our future. We are excited about this next step.” said Mississippi College athletic director Mike Jones.
“I moved my family from Ohio to coach the runners on the distance team for Mississippi College 4 years ago. It is an amazing opportunity, and I am honored to now be at the helm, as the head coach for the track and field and cross country programs. Over the past 4 years, I have recognized something special here, I call it “the MC difference.” This institution is a place I am proud to represent, from the vision set by the President, to the involvement of the faculty, the pride of the coaches, and the dedication of the athletes, I am honored to represent MC and lead this team forward into the next phase of the track and field and cross country programs.” said Matthew Reckner.
