Clinton Christian Academy (CCA) Warriors basketball teams will soon shine in their new gym. The same can be said for talented CCA show choirs, who will also be performing in a new venue.
What’s all the excitement about? CCA supporters say they are delighted to see the Clinton campus transformed by a 20,000-square-foot Athletic and Performing Arts Center to be built in the new year.
The state-of-the art facility is on track to open by early September 2021, and school officials say it will spur CCA growth for years to come.
At press time, ground breaking was expected to happen by February 1 on the campus at 101 West Northside Drive. The project represents a $2 million investment in Clinton Christian Academy. CCA leaders join Warriors fans, students and other stakeholders who can’t wait for the doors to open.
“We are so excited about this project and what it means to our CCA families,” as well as the school’s projected growth, says CCA headmaster Dr. Phil Broome. “God has once again provided a path for us, and we plan to take that step in an effort to further his Kingdom.”
Josh Zeitz, the CCA athletic director, says he is excited to see the private school’s innovative complex get off the ground.
“This facility represents a significant step for CCA in attracting athletes and builds dominant athletic programs well into the future,” Zeitz said. “Now is certainly the time to be a Warrior.”
The project is the fifth phase in the overall campus plan since the Central Mississippi school’s birth in 2008.
The building will be furnished with a gym and locker rooms for Warriors basketball teams, from elementary to JV levels, as well as the varsity teams.
There will be plenty of room, too, for the school’s two show choirs – One Life (at the JV level) and Extreme (for the varsity). There will be space for student theatrical performances on a full stage.
In addition, there will be concessions areas and restrooms at the rear of the building to serve fans during baseball, softball and football games.
And there’s more. The facility’s upstairs will feature a modern weight room for student athletes and contain offices for Warriors’ coaches.
The innovative building will combine with spacious parking and feature plenty of trees to give the feel of a college campus.
Shane Orman Construction Management and Design, Inc. of Clinton is tasked with this major project.
Cindy Nix, the CCA Show Choir director, is thrilled to learn about the details.
“This new facility will allow our students to grow their God-given talents through the fine arts,” Nix said. “We will be better prepared for our music programs, drama presentations and show choir competitions. Having a space of our own will boost pride and confidence in our entire student body!”
