Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II announces the State of Mississippi is conducting three criminal jury trials before the Hinds County Circuit Court during the week of March 8, 2021.
Cause No. 17-0-087, State v. Frederick Levy, will be tried before Judge Winston Kidd by Assistant District Attorneys Sue Perry and Shaunte’ Washington. The State alleges that Fredrick Levy committed the crime of aggravated assault when he brutally bludgeoned and stabbed his wife with a knife causing her to require numerous stiches as well as to suffer from a concussion.
Cause No. 18-0-082, State v. Hector Alvarado, will continue on Wednesday March 10,2021 before Judge Faye Peterson with District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II and Assistant District Attorney Greta Harris representing the State. The State alleges that Hector Alvarado gunned down local convince store owner, Sukhjinder Sing, as well as fired multiple shots at store employee, Jeremy Woods, while both were at work at the convenience store.
Cause No. 17-0-434, State v. Amber Turnage, will be tried before Judge Adrienne Wooten by Assistant District Attorneys Gwen Agho and David Linzey. The State alleges that former Provine High School Teacher Amber Turnage, age 39, had multiple sexual encounters with one of her underage students.
