Clinton Public School District begins state testing in April

As Clinton Public School District faculty and students ready themselves for the final nine-week grading period, they will also focus their attention on end of the year state tests.

Each campus will have students tested, allowing the district to gather much-needed data in order to direct decisions made for future curriculum and instructional needs as well as meet federal requirements for funding.

Students at Clinton Park will take the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment the week of April 19.

Northside students in third grade will take the Third Grade Reading Gate on April 22 and will take the second part of the English/Language Arts (ELA) assessment on May 13. Clinton third graders will also take the Third Grade Mathematics Assessment on May 11-12.

Eastside students in both fourth and fifth grades will take tests in ELA and mathematics.

Eastside’s fourth graders will take their ELA assessment on May 3-4 and their mathematics assessment on May 10-11. Fifth grade students will take their ELA assessment on May 5-6 and their mathematics assessment on May 12-13. These students will also take the fifth grade science assessment on April 29.

Lovett’s ELA assessment will be given the week of May 3, and the mathematics assessment will be given the week of May 10. Students at Lovett will take their ELA and mathematics assessments with their designated teams. A letter will be sent home to parents informing them of their child’s exam dates. 

All students at Clinton Junior High School will take both the ELA and the mathematics assessments. Students in seventh grade will take their mathematics assessment on May 4-5 and their ELA assessment on May 6-7. Students in eighth grade will take their mathematics assessment on May 11-12 and their ELA assessment on May 13-14. These students will also take the eighth grade science assessment on April 22. CJHS students enrolled in Algebra I will take the Algebra I assessment on April 28-29.

 




 

Grades nine through twelve begin the end of course tests that students are required to pass in order to graduate.

In order to accommodate COVID-19 safety measures, students at Sumner Hill will be placed into testing cohorts. A letter will be sent home to parents detailing testing measures in place at Sumner Hill as well as a detailed testing schedule for students to follow. Sumner Hill will hold its Algebra I assessment on May 3-6 and its Biology I assessment on May 11-13.

Students enrolled in Biology I at Clinton High School will test on April 29 with Algebra I to follow on May 4-5. All juniors will take the U.S. History assessment on May 11, and sophomores will take the two-part English 2 assessment on May 18-19.

Students are encouraged to get plenty of rest the night before their test and to eat a healthy breakfast the morning of their test.

All parents of virtual students will be contacted by their school’s principal regarding information about measures taken for virtual students and state testing.
