Hinds CC Baseball Season Recap

Raymond, Miss. – The Hinds Eagle baseball ended 2021 on Thursday with a loss to East Central Community College in the 2021 Region 23 Baseball Tournament, capping a most successful end to the second half of its season. High points for the Eagles in the 6-2 loss included 3-for-4 performances by Colby Collier and Vantrel Reed. Chase DeJean homered for his fourth round-tripper of the season. The Eagles had stayed alive in the double elimination tournament with a marathon, 17-inning win over Itawamba Community College by a 5-3 count. Matt Corder provided the winning edge with a walk-off homer, which capped off a 5-for-7 performance with two runs and two RBIs. Pablo Lanzarote went 3-for-7 with two doubles and two RBIs. Brooks Auger got the win to push his final record for the season to 7-1, with five strikeouts over six innings pitched. The Eagle bullpen, buoyed by Holland Townes and Noah Magee, threw 12 scoreless innings. Bryce Brock went five innings, with six strikeouts. The Eagles finished 25-18 for the season, which included wins in eight of their last 10 regular season games to clinch a regional playoff seed.
