Scarlett, a memory game app for seniors
At DYNSEO we offer a range of fun and cultural memory games that allow cognitive stimulation while having fun.
SCARLETT is a brain game app adapted for seniors, designed in collaboration with neuropsychologists and seniors.
This app allows seniors to train their memory through games. With more than 25 different games and three levels of difficulty for each one of them, seniors can progress at their own pace.
Today this program is widely used in health care facilities and adult day cares, but it is also used at home by elderly people with cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s, dementia or also by autistic people. Thanks to the follow-up option, healthcare professionals can monitor their patients’ progress in terms of memory, motor functions and concentration. The monitoring platform can also be used to observe the senior’s progress over time and detect early cognitive weaknesses.
To encourage seniors to surpass themselves, some games in the app can be played in pairs. Playing with someone else is the best way to outperform family members, friends or other seniors but also their own performances. The two-players game option was made in order to help the ones who have difficulties to play and also to stimulate those who are already master at this game.
The SCARLETT app was developed in collaboration with neuropsychologists, psychomotor therapists, Speech language therapist and other health professionals to ensure the adaptation of the application to every senior and most importantly to everyone’s abilities. We ensure that each game is helping improve a different function so people who have difficulties with a certain game can also find one that suits them better.
A scientific study was conducted by Mobin YASINI and Guillaume MARCHAND on the adoption and the use by seniors of the SCARLETT cognitive stimulation program. This study, conducted during a 6-month period with 15 seniors aged 79 to 88, showed that brain games for seniors have various benefits to their memory and well-being. 14 out of 15 seniors said they were feeling better after the 6 months program.
As there are several games, some are more specialized than others. For instance, seniors that have memory issues or designation issues will have specialized games to try and improve their memory or movements. The Scarlett app can also be used by activity directors in care homes: they can connect the tablet to a projector and create group activities for dementia patients for instance, or just activities for seniors and make them have a great moment together.
Scarlett is the ideal app for seniors because it is easy to use, and the brain games are developed to ensure the success of the user The three different levels of difficulty allow the patient to see their progress, the monitoring platform is useful for the caregivers and for the senior’s family if they want to follow the progress of their loved ones.
The diversity of brain games in the app is also a great plus, seniors can compete with other players using the games for two or even compare their scores on different games. This will talk to the most competitive ones and for those who are more into learning they can create activities with the general knowledge quizzes in the app.
