Today, we are going to look at what THC is, how to take it, and how much you should be taking the first few times you have THC.
What Is THC?
Cannabis (also known as marijuana) is a psychoactive drug derived from the Cannabis sativa plant. A cannabinoid is a word scientists use to describe the key chemical components in cannabis.
The two main cannabinoids found in cannabis are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). Both cannabinoids interact with our body’s endocannabinoid system, which regulates many functions such as pain perception, mood, appetite, memory, and sleep.
CBD is a lesser-known cannabinoid. CBD has become popular with people who suffer from anxiety because it helps reduce stress and panic attacks. It also helps those suffering from insomnia and depression.
The most well-known cannabinoid is THC, which is responsible for the “high” feeling associated with cannabis use. However, CBD doesn’t cause any euphoric effects. In fact, it actually counteracts some of the negative side effects of THC. For example, CBD can help alleviate anxiety and paranoia caused by THC.
How To Take Your First Dose Of THC?
When you first begin using cannabis, it is important to understand how your body reacts to it. This is especially true if you are new to cannabis or THC. You will not want to go overboard on your first dose.
The following dosages are suggestions based. While these instructions are meant to give you an idea of how much THC you should be consuming – all our bodies react differently to THC. So, it is best to start small until you understand how it works with your body.
For beginners:
Start off slowly with small doses. Start with 1/8th of a gram. Wait 30 minutes before taking another dose. Keep this up until you feel comfortable with your dosage. Then increase your dosage every 2 weeks.
For intermediate users:
Start off slow again. Try 1/4 of a gram. Wait 30 minutes before taking another dose, and keep increasing your dosage every 3 days.
For advanced users:
If you are already familiar with cannabis, you can experiment with higher dosages. Beginners should stick to no more than 1/2 of a gram per day. Intermediate users can reach one full gram per day. Advanced users can take anywhere between one and three grams per day.
Is THC Safe?
In general, yes! THC is very safe. There are no reports of death due to overdose.
However, THC can affect younger adults differently than adults. Adults in their early 20s can experience hallucinations and other mental health issues when they consume too much THC.
If you notice someone experiencing these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
It is also best to avoid consuming THC if you are on any kind of medication until after you have spoken to your doctor about it. THC mixes particularly badly with antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications.
Can I Consume Too Much THC?

THC will eventually leave your bloodstream, unlike some other drugs. The amount of time it takes depends on your metabolism. Some people metabolize THC faster than others. Some people also metabolize THC more efficiently than others.
What Are The Side Effects Of THC?
There are several common side effects of THC consumption. These include dry mouth, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, and headaches.
Dry Mouth: Dry mouth is a common side effect of THC consumption. When you smoke or vape cannabis, the active ingredient THC enters your bloodstream. As the THC travels through your body, it causes your saliva glands to produce less saliva. This results in dry mouth.
Dizziness: Another common side effect of THC is dizziness. When you smoke marijuana, THC enters your brain causing a rush of endorphins. Endorphins are natural painkillers that make you feel good. Unfortunately, they also cause dizziness.
