The golf teams at Mississippi College will soon enjoy a new indoor facility featuring two hitting bays, a putting green, coaches’ offices and a player locker area. The John and Charlotte McMath Golf Center is named in honor of the two long-time professors who provided the lead gift to fund the project.

John McMath was an MC golf coach for many years. Charlotte McMath has been a tireless advocate of Mississippi College athletic programs. Other gifts came from several former MC golfers.

Athletic Director Kenny Bizot says, initially, the facility located south of the soccer fieldhouse will be for the benefit of MC’s golf teams, but its use could be expanded in the future.
“Over time, we may develop programs and classes that would allow the broader campus community access to the facility,” Bizot says. “We are also considering reaching out to high schools with golf teams who may want to use the space down the road.”

And there’s a chance that Clintonians may have a chance to hit some balls or sink a few putts at the McMath Golf Center.

Bizot says, “Depending on team practice schedules, we may determine a few times that the public could use the facility. But, in the beginning, the facility will be dedicated to the teams and coaches here at MC for which it was built.”
