Companies hired to design initial park projects

Two architectural design companies will work together to create a vision for the first round of improvements at Clinton’s parks, the projects to be funded by the City’s two per cent restaurant tax.

The Board of Aldermen, at its October 17 meeting, approved a contract with Canizaro, Cawthon, Davis in association with WAS Design Landscape Architects to come up with plans for restroom and concession stand improvements at Kids’ Towne Park and Traceway Park and a pickleball court expansion at Kids’ Towne.

“We felt it was best to let some of the experts come in and get us the architectural designs that we need for those projects, so then we can take it into the bidding process and move forward with that,” Parks and Recreation Director Courtney Nunn told the Board. She said it’ll take about thirteen weeks for the architects to come up with the designs.

Nunn said the City will pay $6,000 to $9,000 for the Kids’ Towne designs, $1,500 to $3,000 for the architectural work at the Traceway baseball and softball complex and another $1,500 to $3,000 for restroom designs at the Traceway soccer fields.
