Clinton Arrow Swim Team hosted its first-ever invitational meet

The day Coach Marcy Rushing, swimmers, and parents have waited for finally came to life on Saturday, September 14th at the Clinton YMCA. The Clinton Arrow Swim Team hosted its first-ever invitational meet with Madison Central High School, Ridgeland High School, and St. Andrew’s Episcopal School as competitors.  Both CAST women and men came in 3rd place overall at this meet.

Hayes Montgomery placed 3rd in the 200 Yard IM and 2nd in the 100 Yard Freestyle.  Ellie Rushing placed 2nd in the 100 Yard Butterfly and 3rd in 100 Yard Breaststroke.  Reed Watts placed 3rd in 100 Yard Backstroke.  Both Clinton Men’s 200 Yard Medley and 400 Yard Freestyle A relay teams took 3rd in their event.

At this meet, Coach Rushing added several swimmers to her roster of those who will advance to swim at the North Half Swimming Championship at Delta State Aquatic Center next month.  The following swimmers qualified:

200 Yard IM – Hayes Montgomery

50 Yard Freestyle – Kate Gilliam and Reed Watts

100 Yard Freestyle – Isaac Baird, Hayes Montgomery, and Abbie Rushing

100 Yard Backstroke – Reed Watts

100 Yard Breaststroke – Issac Baird, Abbie Rushing and Ellie Rushing

100 Yard Butterfly – Ellie Rushing

Women 400 Yard Freestyle Relay A

Men 400 Yard Freestyle Relay A

Next Saturday, September 21st, CAST will travel to Vicksburg to swim at the Rumble on the River swim meet. The meet is held at the Vicksburg City Pool and will start at 10:00 am.  Please come out and support your Arrow Swimmers!
