Clinton Lions Club celebrates 75 years of service

Special to The Clinton Courier

The Clinton Lions Club was chartered seventy-five years ago on August 9, 1949.  As the club marks its seventy-fifth anniversary, members are reflecting on the journey of the Clinton Lions Club.

Through many concessions, chicken barbeques and fruit sales, the club has raised funds to support those in need in Clinton community and around the world.  The club has seen Clinton Lions Club Park grow from a location of decades of childhood memories to a modern playground with inclusive playground equipment, offering children of varying abilities the opportunity to enjoy being a kid.

The club has helped countless people in need of eyeglasses and those facing vision impairment issues.  The club would like to thank all its dedicated members who have made this milestone possible.

Officers for the club this year include Ken Rawson, president; Billy Trotter, 1st vice president; Todd Hall, 2nd vice president; Michael McCollum, 3rd vice president; Russell Broome, treasurer; Robbie Brown, secretary; and Michelle Smith, immediate past president.

The Clinton Lions meet the first Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Baptist Healthplex in Clinton.
