Free teen mental health event to be held March 1
On March 1, the Clinton community is invited to attend S.A.F.E. S.P.A.C.E., a teen mental health event hosted by local author and director Felicia Brookins, that combines the power of theater and the principles of Kwanzaa to promote collective healing and responsibility. The event will take place at the Quisenberry Library in Clinton beginning at 11 a.m. Admission is free, but seating is limited, and guests must register in advance on Eventbrite.
S.A.F.E. S.P.A.C.E. (Supportive-Accepting-Fearless-Empowering Sharing -Progress-Awareness-Community-Empathy) is designed to create a nurturing environment for youth and teens to explore mental health challenges and solutions through the arts. The event draws its foundation from the Kwanzaa principle of Ujima, emphasizing collective work and responsibility—a reminder that the well-being of children is a shared mission.
The event will include interactive theater therapy sessions, which will be guided by cast members of the acclaimed stage production “The Brownie: An Unforgettable Trip,” and during which attendees will engage in discussion panels to foster emotional expression and connection.
There will also be youth panel discussions featuring mental health advocates and young leaders, who will share insights and strategies for overcoming challenges.
Community collaboration is encouraged, and youth organizations, agencies, churches and Greek Letter Organizations with youth programs are invited to attend and contribute to the dialogue.
Seats are limited. Spots can be reserved through Eventbrite.com.
