City looks to boost walking trail security

Complaints about how brightly the Arrow Drive walking path was illuminated led to the toning down of the lights, but some of Clinton’s other walking trails are completely dark at night. And Ward 4 Alderman Chip Wilbanks says it’s time to make those trails more secure, especially the one located behind the Quisenberry Library.
“We need to make sure that [the library trail] is appropriately lit,” Wilbanks said, after discussing the issue with his colleagues at a Board of Alderman work session May 5. “We can add cameras fairly inexpensively as a deterrent for bad behavior.” And Wilbanks said he’d like similar security measures taken at other walking trails across Clinton.
A couple of years ago, lights were installed in the Kids Towne Park parking lot to discourage loitering at night.
“It was pitch dark,” Wilbanks recalled. “It was basically one or two [light] poles that Entergy did for us, and it resolved that problem.”
