Clinton’s Parks and Recreation Director Courtney Nunn says the department is planning “something special” to celebrate the Fourth of July and America’s 250th birthday this year. The City is paying the Music Garden booking agency $700 for a band which Nunn hopes will “really have fun with the crowd and play music that we all know and can sing to or dance to.”

Headlining the Red, White and Blue Fest at Traceway Park will be the Fountain City Players from Columbus, Georgia, a six- to nine-piece group described as “a high energy dance and party band that plays Motown, Top 40/pop, classic rock, oldies and variety songs.”

According to Nunn, “It’s going to be a little bit of everything. We just wanted a band that would play different genres and would get the crowd going and play familiar music.”

The event will be Clinton’s contribution to the national celebration of America 250.

Nunn says, while the final details are still being worked out, they’ll try to acknowledge the country’s milestone birthday “in every way that we possibly can.”

The annual family-friendly event is held at Traceway Park on July 4 and typically includes games, bounce houses, food and beverage vendors, live entertainment and concludes with a fireworks display. Tents, coolers of non-alcoholic beverages and chairs are welcome.
