Matthews, Cutrer & Lindsay, P.A. (MC&L), recently announced that Tolliver C. McMullen, CPA, CFE, CIRA, a shareholder with the firm, has earned the Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) designation from the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA).
The CIRA designation recognizes professionals with specialized knowledge and experience in serving businesses and organizations facing financial distress, insolvency, bankruptcy, and restructuring.
The credential requires specialized education, examinations, and demonstrated professional experience in areas related to business turnaround, restructuring, and bankruptcy. Tolliver McMullen is one of only two professionals in Mississippi currently holding the CIRA designation, alongside fellow MC&L professional Ken Lefoldt, CPA/CFF, CFE, CIRA.
“Tolliver’s achievement reflects the depth of expertise he brings to some of the most complex financial situations businesses can face,” said Matt Freeland, CPA, Managing Shareholder of MC&L. “His CIRA designation strengthens MC&L’s ability to provide specialized guidance to businesses, creditors, attorneys, and other stakeholders navigating bankruptcy, restructuring, and financial distress.”
McMullen has more than fifteen years of public accounting experience and joined MC&L in 2021. His practice includes auditing, forensic investigations, tax planning and transaction advisory services, with a focus on bankruptcy and distressed-business consulting.
Through MC&L’s bankruptcy and advisory services, McMullen assists businesses, legal counsel and creditors with financial reporting, strategy evaluation, forensic analysis and litigation support throughout the bankruptcy process.
McMullen earned a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from Mississippi State University and a Master of Business Administration from Mississippi College. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner and member of AIRA and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He also serves as chair and past millennial chair of the Mississippi Society of CPAs’ Professional Conduct Committee.
