Pardue wins Alyce Clark Excellence in Education Award

Clinton High School Alternate Diploma Teacher Lindsay Pardue was recently visited by WAPT reporter Brooklyn Joyner, who presented her with the Alyce Clark Excellence in Education Award for January 2025.

“I am of the opinion that everyone can learn,” Pardue said. “I love getting to see my students learn skills in the classroom and skills that make them employable and independent.”

Pardue, who is in her fifteenth year as an educator, said she knew she was called to working with students with special needs from an early age.

“My brother had Down syndrome, and, after his passing, I knew I wanted to help people with unique needs,” she said. “When I was a student at Clinton Junior High School, I was a student helper in Carol Ann Franklin’s Life Skills class and knew that was what I wanted to do.”

“It is a pleasure to work with Mrs. Pardue. She has the attributes necessary to be a good teacher,” CHS principal Dr. Brian Fortenberry said. “She knows her content, she is always prepared, she is dependable, and, most importantly, she loves her students and loves working with students. We are blessed to have her as part of Clinton High School.”

The WAPT Alyce Clark Excellence in Education Award is a monthly award named after Alyce Clark, the first Black woman elected to the Mississippi Legislature.
