Keep Clinton Beautiful partners with City for fall cleanup
The Clinton Courier
Clinton’s annual fall citywide clean-up, a partnership between the City of Clinton’s Public Works Department and Keep Clinton Beautiful, will be held October 10 through 17, with a special household hazardous waste collection date set for October 24.
From 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily from October 10-17, dumpsters will be available for residents to get rid of household debris at the former Northside Elementary School location at 1111 Old Vicksburg Road. The site will be closed on Sunday, October 11.
Residents can dispose of yard waste, bulky items and other household debris free of charge.
During the clean-up period, City employees will be present at the site to help residents, as needed.
Residents utilizing the service are asked to line up for drop off on Longwood Place in the Briars neighborhood and turn west onto Old Vicksburg Road.
Due to the expense of the program, the Public Works Department will limit the service to Clinton residents only. Proof of residency will be required, and acceptable forms of identification include a City of Clinton water/garbage bill or a driver’s license or state-issued ID card with a Clinton address.
Residents will not be able to dispose of e-waste, such as old computers, printers or keyboards, or refrigerators, freezers and A/C units at the Old Vicksburg Road site, nor will hazardous materials, such as paint and pesticides, be accepted there.
Instead, residents are asked to dispose of those items during the City’s and Keep Clinton Beautiful’s Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day on Saturday, October 24. That day, from 8 a.m. until noon, Clinton’s Public Works facility at 525 Springridge Road will be open to accept disposal of e-waste and hazardous waste products, including paint, aerosols, ammonia, anti-freeze, auto cleaners, batteries, brake fluid, chlorine bleach, pool chemicals, glass cleaner, disinfectants, drain opener, furniture polish, gasoline, herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, rodent poisons, rubber cement, silver polish, tub and tile cleaner, water seal, wood finish, detergents, fertilizers, lighter fluid, glues, oven cleaner, paint thinner, photographic chemicals, tires, fluorescent light bulbs and electronic waste. Radioactive materials, PCBs, medical waste, syringes, ammunition or laboratory chemicals will not be accepted.
