These tips will come in handy if you want to enter any of these singing contests.
1. World Championship of Performing Arts
This August, singers all over the world have a golden opportunity to impress the judges at the 24th annual WCOPA. Besides singers, dancers, jugglers, and any performing artist are welcome to join from the 24th of July until the second of August this year. The location is set in Anaheim, California, yet selections for the contestants are supposed to be held in Canada, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe, Asia, and South Africa. All nationalities and genders are welcome to join what is often referred to as the “Talent Olympics” for a unique chance for entertainers, performers, and artists to celebrate themselves and their talents.
2. American Idol
This is one of the most famous singing competitions, not only in America but around the globe. A small television series that started back in 2002 originally aired on Fox has now grown into 18 seasons where newer seasons are being aired on ABC. This competition was the reason behind the fame of many well-known artists in today’s music scene such as Kelly Clarkson that became the idol during the first season and Carrie Underwood who won the competition in the fourth season. These names are still shining brightly to this day. 3. Karaoke World Championship
This is one of the biggest singing competitions that usually gather more than 30 countries from all over the world only for singing capabilities. This year, the competition is supposed to be held online for solo singers. As for the rest, they are supposed to record their songs live a few days before the competition where each contestant has to send three songs for three typical rounds. The competition encourages young amateur singers to participate without any restrictions or special requirements as long as they are over 18 years of age.
4. Hal Leonard Vocal Competition
For the younger audience out there, you will be pleased to learn more about Hal Leonard competition for young singers that encourage children and young adults from all over the states and Canada to participate. Participants are categorized into four age groups from children, early teens, high school, to young adults until the age of 23. The new competition is supposed to be held around the start of the new year yet the exact date hasn’t been specified yet.
5. Take The Mic
Take the mic is essentially more than just a singing competition. They offer music theatre events, non-competitive showcase program for artists to practice and train their singing techniques to become better. Due to current events, this year’s competition is being held nationally in Australia and exclusively online. However, the date for the upcoming event hasn’t been specified yet.
6. The International Singing Competition NEUE STIMMEN
This singing competition is dedicated to young opera artists. The age limit for female participants is normally 28 years of age compared to 30 years in male contestants. The bi-yearly event is expected to be held sometime at the beginning of the new year. Artists are usually evaluated according to four main factors, skills, music presentation from phrasing, keeping a rhythm, expression, vocal quality, and artistic personality.
7. International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition
Another opportunity for young opera artists to showcase their true talents was started by Hans Gabor. Somehow, this popular and popular competition has managed to last for more than 39 years. The next qualifying round is being held in August in Germany.
Even for people with great confidence, singing on stage for judges to evaluate your performance is enough to send anyone into spirals of stage fright and performance anxiety. These feelings are pretty common and normal, especially for singers who are still trying to start their singing career.
