The Clarion Ledger Dandy Dozen teams are composed of the 12 best Mississippi high school athletes for a respective sport.  Two decorated Clinton High School basketball players made the list of basketball honorees this season. Taelar Felton was named a girls’ basketball Dandy Dozen selection, while Kimani Hamilton was named to the boys’ basketball Dandy Dozen team.

Taelar Felton

Felton, a sophomore guard, averaged 10.9 points, two assists, and 2.5 assists per game last season while shooting 58 percent from the field for the 13-win Lady Arrows.  She has showed statistical improvement this season, as she is currently averaging to 15.7 points, 2.4 assists, and 3.4 steals per game.

Felton was also named Clarion Ledger Girls’ Mississippi Preps Athlete of the Week earlier this season for a 36-point effort against third-ranked Tupelo. She currently has offers from Jackson State, Mississippi Valley State, and Louisiana Monroe.

Hamilton now has back-to-back Dandy Dozens on his resume. He was a key cog in the Arrows’ Class 6A State Championship team last season, averaging 16 points, seven rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game last season.  The senior forward had a 14-point, 14-rebound effort in the championship game against Starkville.

Hamilton is currently the second-ranked recruit in Mississippi. He signed with Mississippi State in November.
