A new study based on Google search data reveals that Utah recorded the highest interest in AI-generated visual culture in the U.S.

The research by business productivity platform TEMPLATE.NET analyzed monthly Google search volumes for terms related to 14 categories of AI art and aesthetic creation, including “AI digital art,” “AI MidJourney art,” “AI anime art,” and “AI image generator,” across all 50 U.S. states. The search volumes were then compared against population figures to identify which states most actively explore algorithm-driven creativity and visual experimentation.

Utah ranks first with 491 searches per 100,000 residents, a 54.9% higher search interest than the national average of 317 searches per 100,000 residents. The Beehive State, home to 3,564,000 residents, recorded 17,510 average monthly searches for AI aesthetic-related terms. Popular keywords include “AI digital art,” “AI logo design,” “AI anime art,” and “AI portrait generator,” signaling a strong grassroots appetite for creative AI experimentation.

Colorado ranks second, with 438 searches per 100,000 residents, a 38.2% increase above the national average of 317 searches per 100,000 residents. With a population of 6,013,650, the Centennial State recorded 26,320 average monthly searches, with high interest in “AI art generator,” “AI MidJourney art,” “AI style transfer,” and “AI logo design.”

Oregon ranks third, with 418 searches per 100,000 residents, 31.9% more searches than the U.S. average of 317 searches per 100,000 residents. The Beaver State, with 4,291,090 residents, reported 17,920 average monthly searches for terms such as “AI anime art,” “AI DALL-E art,” “AI digital art,” and “AI photo realistic generator.”

Looking at the study, a spokesperson from TEMPLATE.NET commented:

Washington ranks fourth with 410 searches per 100,000 residents, 29.3% higher than the national benchmark of 317 searches per 100,000 residents. With a population of 8,059,040, the Evergreen State generated 33,050 average monthly searches focused on “AI image generator,” “AI MidJourney art,” “AI portrait generator,” and “AI style transfer.”

Idaho ranks fifth with 383 searches per 100,000 residents, 20.8% above the national average of 317 searches per 100,000 residents. With 2,032,120 residents, the Gem State generated 7,780 average monthly searches, with terms such as “AI DALL-E art,” “AI image generator,” “AI photo realistic generator,” and “AI anime art” leading the interest.

Maine ranks sixth with 371.53 searches per 100,000 residents, followed by New Hampshire at 371.51, Virginia with 361, Minnesota at 357, and Vermont with 356. These states are currently the top ten most engaged with the AI aesthetic.
