Bow Tie Dance Band set to bring high energy to April 25 concert
By Sherry Lucas
By popular demand, the Bow Tie Dance Band returns in Clinton’s Spring Concert Series at Lions Club Park, 6:30 p.m., Saturday, April 25, enlivening the second installment in the series with a fun mix of covers from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s, up through current hits.
Gena Steele (vocals and guitar), Eddie Ingram (bass and vocals), David Cummings (drums and vocals) and Andy Joyce (guitar and vocals) are the musicians behind the central Mississippi band billed as “the ultimate party band.”
Their high-energy gigs strive for a broad all-ages appeal and high level of engagement, with classic hits that never get old, and some new up-tempo faves, too. The playlist taps the memories of one generation and pulls the next generation along for the ride with songs made famous by the likes of Michael Jackson, Prince, Chaka Khan, Al Green, Bee Gees, Smokey Robinson, Aretha Franklin, Bruno Mars and more.
Cummings’ and Joyce’s Clinton ties make the band’s performance at Lions Club Park even more special.
“They’re super popular,” Main Street Clinton Program Director Tara Lytal said, noting the great response last time Bow Tie Dance Band played at the park. “This is not a stretch of the truth — multiple people said, ‘You’ve got to have them back!’”
There will not be a food truck at this concert. Main Street Clinton encourages attendees in search of dinner or snacks to check out Olde Towne eateries for Greek food, pizza, American cuisine and more, and even give the dirty sodas (soda, cream and flavored syrup) at Coach’s a try.
Lions Club Park is located at 200 East Leake Street in Olde Towne Clinton. The concert is family-friendly and free. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs for seating.
